Lechateau.com offers a 30-day return policy for online orders. Products can be returned by mail to their warehouse or in-store at Suzy / Le Chateau combo locations. However, items in the SALE / LIQUIDATION section are FINAL SALE and cannot be returned or exchanged online or in-store. This policy is for online orders only. Returns for purchases made in-store must be processed in-store.

To qualify for a refund or exchange, the following eligibility requirements must be met:

• Return requests must be made within 30 days from the order date as indicated on the original invoice.
• Returns must be accompanied by the original invoice.
• The product(s) must be in the same condition as when received.
• Merchandise must be in its original packaging, unused, unwashed, with all merchandise tickets attached.
• All merchandise in the “SALE / LIQUIDATION” section is FINAL SALE and therefore not eligible for exchanges or refunds, in-store or online.
• All gift cards, bodysuits, panties, shapewear, and earrings are FINAL SALE. No refunds or exchanges allowed.
• If the item received was damaged, it can be replaced for the same item, if available.

The chain was founded in 1959 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and designed, imported, and retailed women's and men's apparel, accessories, and footwear. In 2015, the company generated sales of about CA$ 237 million. The company operates in 57 Suzy Shier stores, before bankruptcy, they sold directly to customers from 123 retail stores in Canada and 5 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The company was founded by Herschel Segal in 1959, as "Le Chateau Men's Wear", it began as a menswear store in downtown Montreal Victoria Square. Segal gave his store a French name because of the budding francophone feelings occurring in Quebec. At first, Le Château was not a "fashion-forward" store, as it would later become, as Segal sold overstock from his father's old store. In 1962, Le Château added women's clothing, shortened the name to "Le Château", and switched to selling imported European fashions.

By 1972, the chain grew to 10 stores, and by the end of the decade Le Château had over 50 stores across Canada. By this time, Le Château had shifted to selling mainstream fashion instead of the latest imports from Europe. In December 1983, Le Château had its initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). It raised $7.3 million. By the early 1990s, Le Château had 160 stores and had switched to doing most of its design and manufacturing itself.

However, in recent years, Le Château’s often-flimsy clubwear failed to attract the cool teens it had once effortlessly catered to.
